About FastFill: This extension is used to quickly place a preset string of text into a text field within a web page. For example, if you are tired of endlessly typing your name into various forms you would create a FastFill with a label of "name" and a fill of "Your Full Name." Then you right click on the textfield, go to Fast Fill in the menu and find the string of text that you want to put there.
But doesn't Firefox's 'autocomplete' capability already do this? In some cases yes, but if you press that "clear private data" button all of those autocompletes will dissapear. Also, autocompletes can be dangerous if you use them for usernames and passwords, since they instantly appear no matter who is using the computer. With FastFill that data is stored locally in a file and will not be lost when private data is cleared. Also, since most people don't know what FastFill is it can be used as a safer alternative to autocomplete for logins.
Notes:
To add new fills you go to the Fast Fill item on the main menubar and select "Manage Fills ." A dialog will appear where you can add/edit/delete fills.
You must click 'OK' in the "Manage Fills" dialog for the changes you made to be saved

Additional Notes: This was my first attempt at creating a Firefox extension. I have come away from the experience very impressed by the effort put into the extensible architecture of Firefox's framework. Creating an extension is definately not child's play, but anyone with some programming experience and time to learn should be able to create one.
